Boss Witch
Let’s talk about love. I don’t mean the head over heels about another person kind of love, what I want to talk about is self-love.
You know that thing we all claim to do but probably neglect from time to mine? Yeah that one!
I was doing my usual thing. Scrolling through insta whilst binge watching Gavin and Stacey when this sudden overwhelming self hatred came over my body. I had a burst of motivation to get into some gym gear and go on a 5 mile run (Of course making sure I post a selfie to prove I actually did it, it doesn’t really count if you don’t!)
Then I thought to myself what is self-love anyways? Well I wanted to write my own version.
You’ve heard it before but it really does come from within. Losing a few pounds won’t really make me any happier If I’m honest. What Instagram doesn’t tell you about being happy with yourself is that sometimes it’s incredibly difficult!
One type of self love we don’t do enough is go to therapy. That’s been a life changer for me personally. Acknowledging my own habits and behaviours was the hardest but most revolutionising thing I’ve ever done!
So when you’re sat on your phone scrolling (like we all do) feeling pretty God damn shitty, remember life isn’t always rainbows and sunshine. Just because these influencers
look happy doesn’t mean they don’t suffer. We all think we have flaws (even Tammy Hembrow I’m sure!!) so don’t beat yourself up or think exercising till your out of breath is the only way to take care of yourself.
Here’s some options for you;
1. Take a meditation class
2. Facetime a few of your friends
3. Watch your fave Netflix series
4. Have a good old cry
5. Delete social media for a while
Loving yourself isn’t fixable with one run and it certainly isn’t always fun. Ease off the pressure. You’ve got this.
My Boss Witch is acknowledging sometimes feeling like shit is normal and recognising that terrible feeling is incredibly healthy. Letting my emotions be. That’s my superpower.
