The Witching Hour
Final Major Project
The feminist movement has often been misrepresented, with critics labelling it as aggressive, man-hating or irrelevant. The Witching Hour reclaims that narrative by playfully linking feminism to the symbolism of witchcraft, historically associated with women who challenged societal norms. This tongue-in-cheek editorial platform turns outdated stereotypes on their head through bold, creative storytelling.

While rooted in feminist themes, The Witching Hour uses humour and imagination to make the movement more accessible to a wider audience. Through quarterly zines celebrating powerful and unconventional women, alongside playful illustrated content and an engaging website featuring articles, blogs and agony aunt advice, the project aims to reframe feminism in a more positive, inclusive, and creative light.
The illustrations were created using Procreate and the website was built from scratch using the WordPress CMS. I designed the zine in Adobe InDesign, with careful consideration of branding and tone of voice to reflect the project’s overall theme.
