Emily Creative

Illustration Design

Being a third-year student during the first national lockdown presented me with the challenge of being innovative with my final major project. My concept relied heavily on photography to accompany interviews and features on my blog page, so I had to think fast about an alternative method.

I found a hidden talent in illustration design by utilising the tools I had around me. Illustration ended up being one of the strongest features of my final major project. Since experimenting with illustrator in April 2020, my designs have further progressed. I have begun creating illustrations tailored to my passions and expertise, particularly a Generation Z point of view on modern feminism and intersectionalism.

Whilst seeking a graduate role, illustration allowed me to continue to experiment with my creativity and the talents I gained while at Northumbria University. See below some examples of my artwork which varies from different cultures and their visual representation of the feminist movement through to graphic design created to accompany university modules.
